About the Program
Change for Change is a program that gives our members the opportunity to donate at checkout to support non-profits, farms, and co-ops that fit into our areas of community sharing.
Current Recipients:
CO-OP FARMER FUND - January through September
The Food Co-op Farmer Fund collects donations to give out as grants to farmers and other local food producers so they can make improvements or embark on projects enabling them to provide more food to our community. Each fall, farmers and other local food producers will submit grant proposals, and the Co-op board’s Community Engagement Committee will choose one or more recipients for the funds, depending on how much we have collected that year.
Co-op GROW Fund - October (Cooperative Month)
Using the interest generated by our participation in the Cooperative Community Fund, The Food Co-op offers small grants to qualifying, local nonprofits to help them grow a healthy community. Each year our amount increases.
Jefferson County Food Bank Association - November and December
The funds for the Food Bank will be donated to the Jefferson County Food Bank Association Food Fund. Our goal is to both strengthen our local food shed and increase access to good food local food.
You can donate any amount at the register—or by using the Donate button below.
NOTE: These donations are not tax deductible but investments in our community.
In February, we were thrilled to award our first Farmer Fund Grants to six local farms using donations from our members. We hope this fund grows from year to year.
